Since President Obama took office in January, international efforts to push the United States into a new world economic/political system have greatly accelerated. And since the G20 Summit in early April, events have moved forward with such rapidity, it is almost overwhelming. In fact, our office has been able to review only a small percentage of the reports being funneled our way. Some days we have been practically shut-down by the sheer volume of information we’ve received in the form of emails, urgent letters and phone calls, and face-to-face discussions.
Obama discusses the future with other G20 leaders.
It would take a book to communicate what we have become aware of, and some of it has already been made public via the Internet and cable news services. Therefore, in preparation for this article, I sought the Lord regarding what specifically I should share with our readers concerning the current world situation. Here are some of my thoughts about where we are headed and what, if anything, we can do.
America’s “New” Foundation
From the beginning of the Obama Administration it has been clear that this president is intent on bringing about radical change as quickly as possible. His goal: To move America in a completely different direction, away from our Judeo-Christian roots toward a new set of values based on universal/interfaith principles with a Marxist element. He refers to this shift in core values as “the new foundation” (his words).
This shift became evident within days of Barack Obama’s inauguration. The following are just a few of the unsettling decisions our new commander-in-chief made during his first month in office.
•He reversed the previous ban to fund US abortions. This decision has global implications as well because it freed up funding to support abortions at the international level. One media source noted: “In a move related to the lifting of the abortion rule, Obama is also expected to restore funding to the UN Population Fund (UNFPA)…”1
•In late February, Obama’s new administration moved to “undo a last-minute Bush administration rule granting broad protection to health workers who refuse to take part in abortions or provide other health care that goes against their consciences.”2
•Speaking in Springfield, Illinois on Lincoln’s 200th birthday, Obama threw in a plug for Charles Darwin, saying “And on this day, that is also the bicentennial of Charles Darwin’s birth, let us renew that commitment to science and innovation once more…”
•Obama promised to repeal the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy regarding gays in the military. For years the homosexual lobby has worked to reverse this policy. Obama is obliging them.
•President Obama’s first phone call to a foreign dignitary wasn’t to a head-of-state but to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. (However, the Times Online was quick to point out, “Mr. Obama also spoke to President Mubarak of Egypt, Ehud Olmert, the Israeli Prime Minister, and King Abdullah of Jordan.”)3
•His first television interview after taking office wasn’t with an American news-outlet but with the Arab satellite station Al Arabiya. During that interview he appeased the Middle Eastern Muslim community stating that, “we are ready to initiate a new partnership based on mutual respect and mutual interest.”4
•Finally, his work to introduce and pass the largest “economic stimulus” package in the history of the world put him on course for being the biggest of the big spenders. With only a few strokes of a pen, Obama’s stimulus program weighed America down with an incomprehensible burden of debt and assured future monetary inflation. Peter Schiff of Euro Pacific Capital writes:
In his first televised speech before Congress, President Obama asserted that prosperity will return once the government restores the flow of credit in the economy. It may come as a surprise to him, but an economy cannot run on consumer loans. Furthermore, credit stopped flowing in the U.S. for a very good reason: there was no more savings left to loan. Government efforts to simply make credit available, without rebuilding productive capacity or increasing savings, are doomed to destroy what’s left of our economy.5
At the rate that Obama is spending, by 2012 the US Government will be $16–18 trillion in debt. If these statistics hold up, the average 20 year-old would pay well over $150 thousand during his working career just for interest on our federal debt.
What else do we expect from a leader and a nation that have turned their backs against God?! On every front – be it political, economic or religious – godly wisdom is being abandoned in favor of reckless indulgence and moral depravity. Spiritual discernment is rapidly becoming a thing of the past.
We are in the final stages of America’s demise; and it is very painful to witness. As the psalmist wrote, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3) Given the current decadent condition of our country, God would have to apologize to many empires of the past if He did not judge America soon. The words of David ring true of our nation: “The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.” (Psalm 12:8) How much longer will God wait?
Marching to Europe’s Beat
One way that God has judged nations in the past is by lifting His protective covering, allowing them to be brought under the authority and control of foreign powers. I believe this process has begun with America. Europe’s leaders are increasingly calling the shots. This was readily apparent at the recent G20 Summit in London.
President Obama catered to virtually all of their demands, including their call for a “global central bank” and a new international reserve currency, which could further diminish the dollar’s value and eventually replace it. In return, he and Michelle were treated like royalty. Europe’s most prominent media figures raved over them. Britain’s prime minister, Gordon Brown, lavished his highest praises on Barack Obama because he was so agreeable and easy to work with. In short, it appears that Obama’s vision matches theirs.
Whether President Obama willfully supports a global currency and eventual world government, or whether his arms are being twisted behind-the-scenes, is of little consequence at this point. Either way, Europe and its consortium of international allies are now running the show. The borrower is always the servant to the lender! The fact is, the United States needs Europe’s money – as well as that of China, the Arab countries, and anyone else willing to loan us some – to stay afloat. This gives the globalists an enormous amount of leverage over us.
Thus far, we have only witnessed round one of the financial crisis. As long as Obama moves in the direction of one-world government (as envisioned by European leadership) and is able to bring the US Congress along with him, international leaders may reward him by pumping their resources into the US economy to create a “soft landing.” This would turn Obama into a heroic figure if the economy rebounds. However, if he is unable to persuade Congress to relinquish our sovereignty in favor of more powerful emerging global institutions, I believe we will witness round two, which would be far more severe.
Britain’s prime minister meets with Barack Obama
Our options are limited, as we are between a rock and a hard spot. Either we allow Europe to force us into a world government and enjoy a degree of prosperity as a result, or we buck the tide and watch everything collapse around us – but perhaps retain a measure of freedom.
Our situation appears quite hopeless, doesn’t it? This is what happens when a nation’s citizens and leaders continually thumb their noses at God, rejecting His principles and wisdom – in spite of warning after warning. It eventually leads to a dead end.
Jesus, Our Rock
Thankfully, for Christians who have placed their hope and trust in Jesus Christ, the road does not end here. The turbulence and trials of this life should only heighten our dependence on the Lord. We must put less of our faith in the material things of this world, while placing more and more of our confidence and trust in Jesus Messiah who loves us and has an eternal purpose for each of us.
In addition, God has given us his Word as a source of inspiration and strength. By its prophecies we are warned so that we are not caught off guard, as others. By its teachings we are made wise in order to apply God’s principles and standards to our lives. God has also given us his Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us into all truth. Most importantly, He has promised to be with us always, even “to the very end of the age.” (Matt. 28:20)
Regardless of whether we have 3 months or 3 years of relative freedom and prosperity left, our lives should not be consumed by monetary matters. Yes, it should be a high priority for every believer to get out of debt and prepare for hard times in a physical, practical way; God will reward such foresight and prudence. However, it is far more important that we are spiritually prepared, so that we will be able to stand strong regardless of what comes our way.
Some of us are being tested even now, being refined so that we will be more effective and loyal to Christ in the days ahead. I can tell you personally that the last few months have been among the most challenging of my life. Satan has come against our efforts from seemingly every angle to stop this message from getting out. He has not succeeded; but we have paid a price for what we are doing. It has not been easy, yet God is faithful, and through it all we have become more determined to stay the course and put our complete trust in Him.
A growing number of Christians are becoming discouraged by the increasing level of difficulties they are facing. Some of them believe that God may be punishing them for some reason, when in reality it is Satan who is coming against them because of their obedience to God. We must never confuse God’s wrath with Satan’s persecution. Satan persecutes the servants of God, while God judges and eventually brings His wrath upon the wicked and unrighteous – those who have rejected His gift of salvation (the atoning sacrifice of Jesus).
If you are a repentant believer and are experiencing severe battles on multiple fronts, take heart, you are not alone. You must be doing something right!
Don’t allow your struggles to make you bitter toward God, but allow them to drive you closer to Him. Keep your eyes fixed on the prize at the end of the race. Your faithfulness will be rewarded!
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:14)
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12)
